Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service Deploys In Motion Technology to Improve Communications, Response Times and Reduce Costs

BUSINESS WIRE--In Motion Technology, a leader in wireless mobile communications systems for public safety organizations, today announced that Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service (MAAS) has deployed In Motions solutions to improve communications, operations and patient care services for the more than 1.5 million residents it serves in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area.

MAAS fleet of 50 EMS vehicles is deployed to provide basic, advanced and critical care life support services and each is equipped with state-of-the-art communications and patient care technology. MAAS was the first EMS service in the greater metro-Atlanta area and one of only 137 in the country to receive accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), the gold standard of quality service in the EMS industry.

By enabling us to transmit data securely and reliably from our communications center to our EMS vehicles in the field, In Motion Technologys onBoard Mobile Gateway has improved our dispatch processes and reduced our response times, said George ONeill, IT Manager for Metro Atlanta Ambulance. While enroute to the hospital, the Gateway enables us to send ECG and patient care records to the Emergency Department where receiving personnel have critical information to assist them in preparing for the patients arrival. When the call is complete, the Gateway wirelessly transmits patient demographics and billing information from the field unit to our corporate office, reducing paperwork, and increasing accuracy and efficiency. The Gateway integrates all of our on-board applications and devices and provides us with a complete end-to-end communications solution.

The onBoard Mobile Gateway is installed in emergency vehicles to create a vehicle area network. This network integrates all on-board data communications, including medical devices, patient care records, GPS and dispatch systems, and allows the seamless transmission of information between these systems in the field and operations command.

In Motions onBoard Mobility Manager continuously collects and analyzes information from Gateway-equipped vehicles to enable an organization to manage its network, fleet and operations to peak efficiency.

At Metro Atlanta Ambulance, we believe that technology is critical in enabling us to provide the best patient care and customer service to our community, said ONeill. We chose In Motion Technology because the gateway offered better performance than other solutions; it handles multiple devices and can work with any wireless network. The Gateway also enables us to integrate future applications, including video monitoring, driver safety applications and state-of-the-art medical devices, into our operations."

In Motion Technology solutions have been proven in the field to improve operations, reduce response times and save money, said Kirk Moir, CEO of In Motion Technology. More than 120 organizations, including some of the most demanding public safety agencies in North America, have deployed our solutions and are seeing results.
