Statement from Sen. Mullis on Storm Damage in Northwest Georgia

State Sen. Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) released the following statement today regarding the recent storm damage to Northwest Georgia:

“My prayers go out to the families of the victims of this devastating storm, and to those who have lost their homes and possessions amid the widespread destruction.

“I’m extremely grateful to the local officials and emergency workers for their search and rescue efforts to help the victims of this tragic event. I have directed state agencies to focus their resources in the areas of Northwest Georgia that have been hit particularly hard, including the City of Ringgold and Catoosa County, the City of Trenton and Dade County, as well as Walker and Chattooga counties. These areas need all the search and rescue help that they can get, and I’m confident that our emergency personnel will do everything they can to assist every victim.”

FBI Statement Regarding Conficker Worm

"The FBI is aware of the potential threat posed by the Conficker worm. We are working closely with a broad range of partners, including DHS and other agencies in the U.S. government, as well as throughout the private sector, to fully identify and mitigate the threat.

“The public is once again reminded to employ strong security measures on their computers. That includes the installation of the latest anti-virus software and having a firewall in place. Additionally, the public should be aware of the potential dangers associated with spam e-mail. Opening, responding to, or clicking on attachments contained in unsolicited e-mail is particularly harmful and should be avoided."

Shawn Henry, Assistant Director, FBI Cyber Division
