Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the interim appointment of Tom C. Lewis to the Jekyll Island State Park Authority (JIA). Lewis will serve in this position until January when Representative Richard Royal retires from the Georgia House of Representatives. At that point, Representative Royal will begin his duties on the JIA.
“As a member of the Jekyll Island State Park Authority for twelve years, Tom has a wealth of experience and solid understanding of the issues facing Jekyll Island,” said Governor Perdue.

Tom C. Lewis, Cartersville, Member at Large- Lewis is senior vice president for external affairs at Georgia State University. Prior to joining Georgia State, Lewis served as chief of staff to then Governor Joe Frank Harris. He is on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Century Bank of Georgia and is a member of the Kiwanis Club. Lewis serves as a mentor to students at Georgia College and State University through the Georgia Education Mentorship Program. He is a former participant of Leadership Georgia and the Etowah Foundation. Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University. He and his wife, Patty, have three children and one grandchild.
