Fernbank Plans Dino-Sized Birthday Party to Celebrate Giants of the Mesozoic Dinosaurs

They may be over 90 million years old, but age hasn’t diminished the need to host a birthday party for the dinosaur stars of Fernbank Museum’s permanent exhibition Giants of the Mesozoic. The world’s largest dinosaurs will celebrate their seventh anniversary at Fernbank with the popular Dinosaur Birthday Bash Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Dinosaur Birthday Bash is included with Museum admission and will offer:

Birthday Cupcakes, courtesy of Whole Foods Market

Birthday Wishes

Create a personalized birthday card for the prehistoric stars of Fernbank’s ground-breaking exhibition Giants of the Mesozoic.

Giganotosaurus Photo Opportunities
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Great Hall
Get up close to a life-sized model of a Giganotosaurus skull. Visitors can try on paleontology gear and do their best “dino dig pose.” Makes a great photo opportunity!

Hat Craft
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Great Hall
Create an Argentinosaurus-shaped birthday hat to wear at the party.

Finger Puppet Craft
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Great Hall
Make and decorate a Giganotosaurus finger puppet.

Baffling Bones Counting Contest

If you can correctly guess how many rib bones the Giganotosaurus has, you’ll be entered to win a great dinosaur prize package!

Prehistor-stick Reptile Tattoos (Temporary Tattoos)

Learn the difference between dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles, such as pterosaurs, and receive a temporary dinosaur or ancient reptile tattoo.

“Dr. Dinosaur” Puppet Show by Lee Bryan, “That Puppet Guy”

Join Dr. Dean O. Sour on an exciting prehistoric expedition. (Limited seating; puppet show is approximately 20 minutes.)

Dinosaur Kid’s Meals

Dinosaur Birthday Bash is included with Museum admission at Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Tickets are $15 for adults, $14 for students and seniors, $13 for children ages 3-12, and free for Fernbank Members and children ages 2 and younger.
