Murphy House Groundbreaking Tomorrow

PRNewswire/ -- After two years of fundraising, the Murphy House groundbreaking will occur tomorrow, Thursday, 19 June at 1235 S. Bethany Rd, McDonough, GA, 30252 at 10:00 a.m. The Murphy House will be home to John and Jeanette's family; 22 kids, 18 adopted with special needs, the majority with Down's syndrome.

Three times turned down by Home Edition for a new home because the family "was too big" the Keenan's Kids Foundation, www.keenanskidsfoundation.com, undertook to raise the funds necessary to purchase raw land and build state-of-the-art facilities adapted for special needs children.

Each day in the Murphy house 72 meals are produced, the family consumes four dozen eggs a day and over a month period washes and sorts 660 pairs of socks. Their old home just wore out and they needed a new one.

All of the kids are home schooled because of their special needs. Ten of the children were at death's door when they came to John & Jeanette Murphy. Over the years, there have been 14 open heart surgeries. These children were considered "unwanted."

"These special kids deserve a new home," says Don Keenan, founder of Keenan's Kids Foundation. "They already receive love from John & Jeanette, now they get a house with an adaptive playroom, a computer lab for special needs, and a dance floor for their dance routines."

"These kids will likely outlive us all and now we can be assured that they will always have a safe roof over their heads," Keenan said.

The website www.murphyhouseproject.com contains many of the facts as well as the copy of the five-page article on the family in People Magazine, a link to the one-hour documentary done by The Discovery Channel, which has been rerun eight times, and a number of news clips.

Come join us at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow where there will be balloons, music but mostly you will see 22 little hard hats and 22 little shovels being used by the kids to break ground on their new home.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
