Meredith Boyd Wins Top Honors, Mrs Georgia International 2008 —Mrs. Georgia Devotes Crown to Arthritis Awareness—

Mableton resident Meredith Boyd was recently crowned Mrs. Georgia International 2008 on May 4th at the Georgia Mountains Center in Gainesville. Boyd will represent Georgia at the Mrs. International pageant in Chicago, Ill. in July. In addition to winning the title, she also won fitness, evening gown and paperwork awards.

Boyd's walk across the stage marked her first steps on a journey that will take her from spotlight to spotlight, from North to South Georgia, traveling hundreds of miles each month during her upcoming year of service. Her personal platform issue is arthritis awareness and is a state and national spokesperson for the Arthritis Foundation. She was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 15. Her mission is to help raise funds and awareness for children, teens and young adults with childhood rheumatic diseases. She is also very active with the Georgia Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald House and related non-profit organizations in the state.

Boyd, age 33, is a Director of Communications/Group Director at William Mills Agency and is married to Matt Boyd, Lieutenant of Detectives with Powder Springs Police Department.

"Pain is universal and so is encouragement. I am passionate about my platform and plan to make a positive impact and lasting difference in the lives of children in our community," Boyd said. "Thank you to our family and friends for their endless support, I am forever grateful. This is an amazing opportunity to touch so many lives, especially the lives of children who are suffering from the pain of arthritis. I am honored to represent the married women of our community and the State of Georgia at the Mrs. International pageant."

The International Pageant system has been developed to promote today's married women, their accomplishments and commitment to family and marriage. Being the premiere pageant for married women has given Mrs. International a chance to open doors for married women around the world.
