Governor and First Lady Announce Eighth Grandchild
Today Governor Sonny Perdue took the opportunity in his State of the State address to proudly announce the arrival of Samuel Ervin Ghioto, the eighth grandchild of the Governor and First Lady Mary Perdue. Samuel is the third child of daughter Lara and her husband Michael Ghioto.

Samuel, who was born last Friday, January 11, 2007 arrived weighing 6 pounds 7 ounces. He was welcomed by his brother Jack and his sister Elizabeth.

“Mary and I are excited to welcome another beautiful grandchild,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “We are blessed to have such a wonderful family and we are eager to share our love with its newest member.”

Governor and the First Lady now have five grandsons and three granddaughters.
